United We Serve

In his inaugural address, President Barack Obama reminded us that in this defining era for our country, we must embrace the spirit of service that has so consistently led America to greatness. What we remind you of now is that PTA® members represent the ultimate volunteers in service to their communities and have for generations.

Today, while families contend with a struggling economy, and our hometowns fight to provide first-rate education for our children, this is precisely the time when a community United We Serveneeds its members to unite and work for the benefit of all. With President Obama’s United We Serve Initiative, PTA stands ready with the best tools to help members organize their friends and neighbors for a common cause.  Our predecessors in PTA helped this nation overcome war, disease, injustice, and segregation. Now we must make our own contribution to American history. Please join us, and the millions of other citizens to serve their country in a lifelong commitment to serve their country.
